95 Express Lane Extension

If you take Interstate 95 to work you may have noticed trucks and cranes entering in between the north and south bound lanes. All this is adding up to what VDOT calls a megaproject, the extension of the I95 Express Lanes. The new express lanes will go from route 610 where they currently end to route 17. This 10-mile stretch will help reduce congestion and encourage more carpooling. The DC Metro area has experienced unprecedent growth over that last 10 years and many would consider this project long overdue. The rising home prices in Northern Virginia have made potential homebuyers to consider a move to the Stafford, and Spotsylvania area. That has increased the number of drivers on 95 increasing traffic that was only experiences close to the beltway. The project is expected to be completed by late 2022. So for the commuters that take 95 to work each day you all will have to wait just a bit longer. If you would more information about this project please find the link to the VDOT website down below.
